Front Page News

This Friday has started out as quite a treat! One of my Etsy Knitters Team members emailed me to let me know that my Skye Isle Neck Warmer had made the front page! Happy Dance!!!!
I also sold my Amethyst Cowl Neck Warmer today so it is a good day at Nanna's indeed! February was a very slow month for me but I am keeping my needles busy with a wonderful, luxurious yarn that is called Misti Alpaca it is 100% Baby Alpaca in a 4 ply Worsted and it is just the yummiest yarn ever. It is as soft as cashmere and I have almost completed a new scarf in the color of blush that will soon be added to my shop so watch for it. I also have this same yarn in a color that my husband refers to as "down right embarrassed," it was mailed to me as a mistake when I ordered the blush and it is a dark rose color so my husband was joking when I told him that I didn't get the blush color that I ordered. He said, "I guess not this color is down right embarrassed." I haven't yet decided what I will make with it but it is such a beautiful color that I am contemplating some floral brooches.

I have also decided that this yarn is going to be the one that I use to make my newest grandchild a blanket. This baby is due in September, I won't start knitting just yet as I want to wait until I know if it is a boy or a girl so I can make my color selection.

I hope this new month of March has many good things in store for you and that as we are still viewing snow here (which I love mind you) that you will soon be thinking of Spring and renewal!
I am including the Front Page picture here and this treasury is bursting with Spring color and joy! The curator of this beautiful treasury is the shop owner of Handmade by Muusa. Stop by her shop by going to www.muusa.etsy.com to see the lovely items she has in her shop.

Bring on the Knitting!

We are once again in the midst of a Winter Storm. Which has me a bit blue as it canceled my trip to Colorado. I will need to fill this week with lots of knitting which is truly good therapy for the emotions! I read that women have used knitting for years to come through times of grieving, hardships and depression. Well, I'm not trying to bring the blog down however, if it has worked for centuries, I'm not going to question the effectiveness. I know for a fact that knitting makes me relax and feel comforted! That is if it is an easy not have to think pattern that one can work on while watching a movie, and not complicated patterns type of knitting.

I'm currently working with a gorgeous yarn that was handspun by Tricia from SpinningWheelStudio.etsy.com her yarns are of such wonderful quality and the colors are just so beautiful! I stop by her shop often dreaming of what I would like to order next for upcoming projects.

My first custom order scarf( in the photo above) was finished this week and will soon be on its way to its new owner. It is made from a beautiful Rosewood and Seashell colored combination. For those who would be interested in requesting an item from my shop, if you see something that you like the pattern but would prefer a different color just click on Contact Seller and leave me a message. I would love to see what I can create for you!

Time to pick up my needles and finish a hat for my grandson! I hope your day is lovely!

Off to an Exciting Start

I just found that the end of 2009 and the beginning of 2010 are both exciting times for Nanna's Knitting! My Etsy Knitters Team was thoughtful enough to notify me that I had made the Front Page on Etsy on New Year's Eve! It seemed like a great kick-off to start thinking of what might be in store and then I have just found out that on January 2nd Nanna's was on the Front Page again! Both treasuries that were featured had the same item from Nanna's so it is definitely a good forecast for my Cinnamon Toast Neck Warmer. Now I'll do my best to attach a Widget that if it works for me will show both of the Front Page Treasuries. Thanks to abreathoffrenchair.etsy.com and lapalomarosa.etsy.com for curating these treasuries. Stop by their shops to see what they offer for sale and enjoy the browse! Sigh....the Widget works great with either photos or a slide show however, it doesn't fit within my blog space. Just when I think that I am learning new things about my computer I then find I have tripped on my own feet once again. Oh well, it is a new year and perhaps I will learn more for 2010.

Wishes for a Very Happy New Year

It's Monday! And I can hardly believe that the Christmas festivities are past and we have entered the New Year. Plus, we have to decide will it be Two Thousand Ten, Twenty Ten, or Two O One O?? I guess that I am not seriously puzzling over that. Pick your favorite and race ahead to the New Year!
A few happenings at Nanna's house. My daughter, husband and I saw our daughter's boyfriend off at the airport on New Year's Eve. Back to England and we do miss him! Then we dropped our daughter off to have her hair done. A little mood boost to keep going is always a good idea! I drove my husband back to work then went to pick up my daughter and run several errands. We came home in the dark which at this time of year doesn't mean that it is late, just dark and oh so soon in the day! It took us several minutes to realize that something was not quite right. When my daughter announced that the Christmas tree had fallen over! Between the two of us we managed with some difficulty to get it in an upright position. I held the tree as she called to get my sweet hubby home. Thankfully, only a few ornaments were broken and none of the very valued. For that I am grateful however or should I say alas...the tree could not be coaxed to right itself and had to be taken down. Serious blues and some pouting over this. New Year's Eve and no tree!!! This from someone who will forever be the butt of jokes about leaving her tree up until she can put Valentines on it. This has never seriously happened, however, I do extend the tree removal as long as possible. So as we celebrate the New Year and what is ahead...please think of me...with no tree to look nostalgically at and remember the Christmas of 2009.
I do have a few new items in the shop and my handsome husband modeling them for me. So take a look at nannasknitting.etsy.com as I will be constantly updating with new items as fast as my fingers can fly to make them.
Wishing you a wonderful, peace filled New Year making special memories with your loved ones!

Soothing Sunday Evening

Remember when Sunday afternoons and evenings seemed to be the time that Mom and Dad would be sound asleep on the sofa or their favorite chair? The kids would be contentedly playing with their Lincoln Logs on the floor or ready to watch the Walt Disney Sunday program? If you do remember this I can guess how old you are and I have certainly dated myself! Oh well, I did celebrate another birthday this past week and as long as I keep celebrating them all will be well.

Tonight at our house my husband is busy reading his paper and if I went out to check has probably nodded off after having a busy day. My daughter and her boyfriend are both busy at their computers at the kitchen table. She is taking a break from Christmas baking...oh I do love that girl!!! And as you just might suspect I am keeping my fingers busy on the keyboard as I write this blog.

I have added a new item and some new photos to Nanna's Knitting today! I am always so happy to have my daughter home so she can model my latest knitting creations and you can see by the photo that we enjoyed ourselves with one of the items. You have to admit that it looks super warm! My knitting looks alright in the photos by themselves but she adds so much sparkle and life to them when I can catch up with her long enough to model. So stop by nannasknitting.etsy.com to check out the latest and to maybe start finishing your Christmas list. It is the best to be able to grab a hot cup of coffee maybe treated with a little touch of Eggnog and sit at the computer nice and warm and no crowds and shop to your hearts content. Most of my Christmas shopping this year has been from my computer and that has made things so much easier for me. Nanna's ships items right away so there is certainly still plenty of time for Christmas delivery.

I hope you have had a lovely Sunday and a relaxing evening. Well I'm off of here to head to the living room and check to see what the Christmas Movie is for the evening. That is one of my treasured traditions for the Season.

I Know....I Know!

It is a week until Thanksgiving and yet my brain is racing ahead and I'm not certain but I think I can hear Christmas bells jingling! I don't mean to race past Thanksgiving as I do enjoy that wonderful time of year to reflect on all of those things in our lives that we can be so thankful for. And if we actually took the time to do this believe me that list would be a long one! But my thoughts are racing ahead as I am knitting at super speed or at least I wish it were super speed so that I can put new things into Nanna's Knitting.

I have had a very enjoyable week while working on the new items. First I found that my Amanda Scarf made the front page this week, causing a brief moment of doing the happy dance. Then I created a treasury that is super coated in extra sweet pink items that just looked like they would make great Christmas gifts. I finished a few knitting projects this week and photographed them today. I listed one of these items in the shop tonight and will follow with the others in the next couple of days. So I have been busy and busy is a good place to be right now.

I hope your week is going well and when you get the time maybe grab a hot cup of tea perhaps with a dollop of honey stirred in and park yourself in front of your computer for a relaxing shopping trip at Nannasknitting.etsy.com perhaps you will get some Christmas gift shopping ideas and you didn't even have to venture out into the cold or crowds to do so.

Faster Fingers

Things I am wishing for first on the list would be faster fingers! I have so many new ideas and projects in the works that it is hard to get them all finished. I guess that is a good problem to have though. I sold one of my trademark scarves this week the one pictured on the left and just finished knitting the next one yesterday so now just to weave in those pesky ends and it will be totally finished. I guess number two on my wish list would be to have a sunny day so I could get new photos taken and then list my newest items in Nanna's shop. So hold on they are coming as quick as my fingers and the weather permits! I hope your week has been a happy and healthy one!
